Winter Felt Hats

Why not look smart and sophistocated in one of these felt hats.
I have wet felted the blue and red using merino fleece and added a flower to show it off.

Trilby and Round Felted Hats

I started out and dyed some yellow fleece using food colour and Landcape Yellow and found that they resulted in two different shades.
So I made one a Trilby and the other a standard popular Round top hat.
Then as I was in the mood and had my felting equipment about me I went and did a Tribly and Round Hat using "natural coloured black sheep fleece" which I had just received and was anxious to get my hands on it.
I had them sitting about for a couple of days so it seemed a good time today to finish the " jazzy up or decoration". Firstly I felted a yellow rope then a yellow with black yarn twisted along the rope. I knew I had some Real snake skin and have been wanting to use it amd found that with a little work I think it looks great on the dark brown Trilby. Some twisted knitted natural brown yarn and black alpaca seemed to suit the Brown Round Hat.
I added autumn coloured feathers to the Round hat and black feathers to the Trilby. Now they are ready to take to Bellingen Market this Sat 21st Nov 09.

Feathers on Felted Hats No 2

More hand felted hats for the Quilters Show at Coffs Harbour Race Course.
Even a couple for the fellas using natural brown/black Romney fleece.
I just love the emu feathers that I purchased at Alice Springs Beanie Festival 2009.
Double click to see hats in detail. A little bling/glitter has been used as embellishment.Posted by Picasa

Feathers on Felted Hats No 1

I have been busy creating hand felted hats for the Quilters Show at Coffs Harbour Race Course Sept 11th - 13th.

First I had to dye the fleece, so I had lots of fun in the back of my garage, with pots of dye, and the microwave working continuously.
Then I had to get down to the hard yakka. Making about 3 hats a day, then there is the embellishment and decoration that makes a hat special.
I was lucky I had in my stash a collection of beautiful feathers, so with a little colour co-ordination I hope I have created a stylish hat.
My personal hat is the one bottom photo, middle, greens and rust with a point with coloured feathers sew in the peak. I will wear that during the quilters show.Posted by Picasa
