Scarf Exchange 2011

Scarf Exchange 2011 is being organised by the HANDWEAVERS SPINNERS AND DYERS GUILD OF TASMANIA.. theme : Head: Shoulders :Knees
I received 150gms of white Corridale fleece and my instructions stated that I could dye it and the sender would like either Head or Shoulders.
I decided to felt a hat so first I had to dye the fleece Red.
When the time came I had to look for what I was going to embellish it with.
I found in my stash pre-dyed black & pre-dyed red tussah silk. red glitter and some commercial yarn with black red green combined.
After the hat was completed I had some fleece left over so again with the same red/black silk spun up some yarn and knitted one of my scarfettes. It also could be worn as a head band. Now I hope the felted hat when sent by post doesnt end up flat and out of shape. I will have to think of a good way to pack it.

kayes Scarf Exchange 2009

This year the Scarf Exchange is being organised by the Kurrajong Handspun Crafts Inc. I received my parcel of what I call teal blue merino. I spun up the teal merino and when plying back added a little contrast color and texture using my pre dyed deep wine coloured mohair and teal blue mohair with burgundy woollen thread and red mettalic thread to give a little sparkle.
As the exchangee didn't request a certain garment I thought a Beret would be a suitable. With the yarn left over I made a small scarfette which is just a little scarf to keep the neck warm.
Now I have to post it back with Marlenes and see what we receive in return.

I hope the lady who sent the parcel likes the Beret and scarfette.Posted by Picasa

My Scarfettes

I have just finished knitting a selection of scarfettes, what one would call a woolly necklet, or a turtle neck without the jumper.
I find just a small knitted scarfette can warm you up, and brighten your outfit.
I have knitted the blue, added a button and made an I-cord cord and made a bow. The Bright pink has three buttons and two tassles.
This pink yarn is shown in the earlier post in a hank already to knit up,
the fleece came from Nundle Woollen Mills.

The white with gold thread plied, has two buttons and two tassles.
The black alpaca with mohair randomly knitted in has one button and one tassle.
The multi brown, black, tan (previously carder together to get this effect) in designer yarn, has two buttons and two long tassles.
These little scarfettes use only a small amount of yarn, so I am looking in my stash to see what other variations I can come up with. If you contact me, I will try and guide you to making one yourself.Posted by Picasa
